My first blog in, what, eight months

Not done this for a while but blogging is like riding a bike, for a few moments everyone else's attention is on you, eh cyclists.

So my New Years resolution was.... No, not to blog more, smart arse! It was to watch more films, that is films I've never seen. I'm fed up of constantly being asked "have you ever seen..." Only to reply, no.

Well no more. From now on if someone asks me have I ever seen a certain film I shall be adding it to my list and finding out how to get hold of a copy.

Just recently my sleeping pattern is completely out of sync, I took a week off work and when that happens my routine slips. With it being new year and all I normally set my new year ressie as "write more", I couldn't really do that this year as I wrote a load last year, especially in the last three months of the year.

I do think I made more of a conscious effort of it though, just making sure that I plough on instead of hiding behind "writers block".

So with writing more and the constraints of routine no longer holding me back I stayed up until the wee small hours to write more of the various scripts and books I'm trying to pen. On two occasions I stayed up until 6am to write, this meant sleeping during the day. The only way this nocturnal lifestyle was going to change is when I was forced to, that meant going back to work.

I came crashing down to Earth with a bump on Saturday the 5th of Jan. the previous day I had stayed up until six writing so when I slept I didn't wake up until 3pm. This then meant that I couldn't sleep at all come midnight so had to stay awake. The problem is I agreed to work on the Saturday. I had to stay up until six and then leave for work.

What made this long period away from the land of nod even harder to take was that I then had to go to football in the afternoon and then to my mates birthday celebrations. I finally got to bed at 4am on Sunday morning, 37 hours after I woke.

I slept and slept but then woke again at 6 in the evening. This was perfect as I could then sit there and watch the NFL play offs, first up the Baltimore Ravens v Indianapolis Colts and then the Seattle Seahawks v Washington Redskins. This finished around half past midnight and the plan was to go to bed. That didn't happen and I soon gave up. I had to leave for work at five anyway.

This all night stay-up-a-thon was where my movie quest began. I was flicking through Netflix looking at what to watch when I saw the movie Paranormal Activity 2. So, sat on my own in the dark, I decided to watch.

I'll write the review later, it'll be the subject of my next blog so I must warn you this blog will fast become a movie review blog.

I don't mean it to but I have to write something, I have this craving to write more and as I continue to watch more films I can then write about them as I go. I was even thinking about incorporating a new rule of not watching any film this year that I have seen previously. Then I saw Street Fighter, with John Claude Van Damn was on Lovefilm so that went out of the window. Then I was going to limit it to any film I've seen in five years but Inception's on there as well so, well, y'know....
